This course is Two Consecutive Days
Target Staff: This course is an introduction to identifying and working with children and young people who are at risk of experiencing Neglect.
Attendees: Maximum number of attendees - 25
Frequency of Course: Three per year
Course Duration: One day
Course Aim: To raise awareness and effectively equip practitioners with information from research and practice evidence to identify signs and symptoms of neglect and the impact on children.
Learning Outcomes - By the end of this course participants should be able:
Develop skills in working alongside families to empower them to address neglect.

Develop an understanding of the impact of the parents' lived experiences (including Adverse Childhood Experiences) on their parenting behaviour.

Understand the complexity of family life and the place of neglect within this.

Develop skills in working with families to enable sustainable change building on a family's resilience

Understand the importance of language in conversations with families around neglect and develop skills in using language appropriately

Develop an understanding of the dynamics of professionals' relationships with families and skills to positively impact upon this

Identify tools and resources for assessing the impact of neglect, including but not limited to The Graded Care Profile and Norfolk’s Neglect Identification Tool.
