Event Working with Families Effectively
 

Course Aim: To provide practitioners across all agencies with best practice principles for working in collaboration with families.

Learning Outcomes - By the end of this course participants should:

Know how to put the child at the heart of practice whilst working alongside families who are experiencing difficulties.

Understand the importance of approaching working with families in a trauma informed way

Understand the types of challenges presented where one or more of the following issues is present in a household:

  • Violence
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Substance Misuse and/or Alcohol
  • Mental Health difficulties
  • Perpetrators of Sexual Abuse
  • Learning disability
  • Exploitation

Be able to develop skills in working alongside families to achieve sustainable change.

Have the opportunity to reflect on their own practice and also develop strategies to engage effectively with colleagues where there may be differing viewpoints.

Understand the importance of information sharing and the roles of different agencies in supporting families.

Develop skills in undertaking challenging conversations.

Reflect on the feelings brought up by working with challenge and identify ways to manage this.
