Voice of the Child

Course Aim: To develop skills in child centred practice and consider how the 'Voice of the Child' is understood and represented.

Learning Outcomes: - By the end of this course participants should:

Understand and reflect upon the different ways that children and young people communicate their lived experiences, how this is best recorded and consider implications for practice.

Considered what children and young people tell us about ‘listening to their voices’.

Considered the importance of children’s rights, participation & advocacy in ensuring the child/young person is at the centre of practice.

Reflect on learning from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews regarding the risks of not representing the voices of children and young people.

Reflect on and identify what prevents practitioners from understanding the lived experience of the child or young person and have considered how to overcome this.

Developed skills to take back to the workplace.
