Emotional Wellbeing

Course Aim: To raise awareness and understanding of the importance of emotional wellbeing for children, young people and their families and the positive impact this has on their life chances.

Learning Outcomes - By the end of this course participants should be able:

To be able to identify what good emotional wellbeing looks like for children and young people.

To understand the contributions all practitioners can make to improve children and young people's emotional wellbeing at the earliest opportunity.

To understand the importance of building and sustaining emotionally resilient practice and how to access support.

To understand what can adversely impact emotional wellbeing of children and young people and how to recognise the early signs of exposure to trauma and/or adversity.

To understand how to build strong and trusting relationships with children, young people and their parents/carers when encouraging their emotional wellbeing.

To develop skills in enabling parents/carers, and their support network, to increase and sustain their capacity to provide emotional containment for their children.

To develop skills in building on the strengths that the wider family network provides in supporting the children or young person's emotional wellbeing.
