Event Considering Neurodivergence when working with Harmful Sexual Behaviour in Children & Young People (>)
 

This is a half day course for professionals who may be required as part of their role to make an assessment of or deliver an intervention to a child or young person with harmful sexual behaviour where that young person has experienced childhood trauma(s).  Participants on this course must have attended the 90 minutes workshop, ‘Identifying Harmful Sexual Behaviour in Children and Young people’.

Learning objectives:

  • Have a clearer understanding of how aspects of neurodivergence might impact upon a child’s sexual development
  • Understand some of the reasons why neurodivergent young people might display harmful sexual behaviour
  • Be able to adapt assessment and intervention when working with harmful sexual behaviour to be responsive to the needs of neurodivergent children
  • Understand how to think about risk for neurodivergent children and to use this to create realistic, proportionate and comprehensive safety plans
